Restoring Driver’s License in Miami Dade County

The Clerk of Court can assist you with the following:

  • Take their cases out of collections WITHOUT going to a judge, simply by going to the clerk window.

  • Put all traffic cases on a single payment plan instead of multiple payment plans, avoiding having to pay the $25 administrative fee for multiple payment plans.

  • Although misdemeanor and felony cases unfortunately need technology updates to get onto a single plan, there is a good workaround: if they cannot afford the $25 upfront admin fee to start multiple payment plans all on the same day, they can ask that the fee simply be added to the total that they owe the court,     meaning all they have to pay on the day of is the first month’s payment.

  • Lastly, speaking of the first month’s payment: the clerk is going to say that it has to be $25 per month. This is the default, but it does NOT HAVE to be this much. They are allowed to ask for any amount of money they can afford monthly. If they are indigent, they can even ask for as low as $1 per month.

  • It is advisable they ask for a low number because as of now missing one payment puts you back in collections.

  • If problems keeping up with their plans, they should never simply miss a payment; they should always reach out to the clerk for suggestions on how to avoid defaulting.
