Internship Program

Program Description

The internship program will provide the participant with a unique opportunity to participate in various facets of the federal criminal justice system. Students will participate in the criminal-justice process at the presentence and supervision stages. Students will attend sentencing hearings, may be afforded the opportunity to witness behind-the-scenes activities relating to the sentencing process, and will become familiar with the presentence investigation process as well as the supervision of offenders on pretrial release, probation, parole and supervised release. A cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher is required. The intern will also be required to work a minimum of 16 hours per week. A background investigation will be conducted to include drug testing.

Who should apply?

Junior, Senior, or Master level Criminal Justice majors and other majors where the student is sincerely interested in the correctional field and who has completed courses in the criminal justice field. The internship must be completed prior to graduation.
